ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Center for empowerment of families with Disabilities Cameroon was founded by Rev. Nungu Magdalene Manyi, who sustained a traumatic spinal cord injury at the age of 12 from an accident, while helping her grand mother to carry maize from the farm. As a result, she is quadriplegic. Magdalene has experienced first hand the ordeals of living with a disability in Africa: Ranging from lack of Education, nutritive food, assistive devices, mobility tools, shelter, to attitudinal and architectural barriers. The Lord laid a burden in her heart to start a Christian organization called Center for Empowerment of Females with Disabilities (CEFED), with the inspiration from Isaiah 40 -29 which states that, ” He gives strength to the weary and increase the power of the weak.” Her efforts has been greatly applauded as she has received so many awards along the line. Magdalene has a degree in education majoring in English, a diploma in Special Needs and Inclusive Education, and a diploma in missions and Cross-Culture from Elim Bible College USA. She is married, a mother of many children and very passionate in making a difference in the lives of children with disability physically, emotionally, and spiritually. she is an international conference speaker on disability and inclusive principles and practices and a minister of the Gospel. She pioneered many inclusive education programs in Cameroon Africa, as she believes that, equal educational opportunity is a fundamental right. Join her in making difference in lives of families affected with disabilities in Cameroon and Africa.
